What self esteem?

I really need to find new people to hang out with.

One of my "best friends" turned down my offer to go to the zoo on Memorial Day.

There are countless perfectly good and acceptable reasons to turn down an offer. However, "I'd rather do my laundry," is kind of a sharp blow to your pride, y'know?
